Onboarding as an Institution (Multi-User/Multi-Wallet Accounts)

Want to use Definitive at your Fund or institution? Definitive can set up a bespoke trading vault with multi-user permissioning and/or sub-accounts linked to different wallets.

TL;DR

Onboarding to Definitive is easy and new accounts can be set up within 24 hours. Simply email sales@definitive.fi with your organization's name, an email address to activate the account, and your wallet address.

Introduction

Definitive is attuned to the specific needs of Liquid Token Funds, Hedge Funds, and other institutional organizations. There are multiple ways our platform supports your needs:

  1. Segregation of Assets: Each client on the Definitive platform trades through a segregated trading vault, ensuring assets are not commingled with other clients or with Definitive's own assets. When clients onboard to Definitive, bespoke trading vaults (one smart contract vault for each chain) are minted and whitelisted to the client's wallet address. The client's wallet is the owner of the trading vaults and the only entity authorized to place trade orders and make withdrawals. In practice, this means:

    • In the case of another client's contract/wallet being compromised, or in the case that Definitive itself is comprised, client assets are protected. The client can withdraw assets onchain using their whitelisted wallet.

    • Unlike other DEX platforms where client wallets interact directly with the same router contract, Definitive's clients have bespoke Definitive trading vaults, providing another layer of obfuscation of client wallets.

  2. Multi-User Access - Allow multiple people within your organization to access your Definitive account with View-Only, Trading, or Full Admin Access. Give service providers View-Only access for independent oversight.

  3. Multi-Trader Orgs via Sub-Accounts - Set up one or more sub-accounts (portfolios) within your Definitive account. Each sub-account can be whitelisted to a different wallet address, effectively ring-fencing each trader in your org to the trade limits within their assigned wallet.

  4. Enhanced Privacy with Additional Proxy Addresses - When funds trade on Definitive, they do not trade through the client's wallet address. Instead, assets deposited into Definitive trade through a set of proxy addresses ("Definitive Performer Addresses"). Definitive Performer Addresses have limited, pre-defined roles to execute client trade intents. To further enhance privacy, additional proxy addresses can be created on behalf of a client's trading vaults.

Getting Started

To initiate institutional account setup, email sales@definitive.fi and include the following information in your email:

  1. Organization Name

  2. Email Addresses of persons who need access to the Organization's account (an onboarding email with instructions to change your account password will be sent to these emails when your account is ready)

  3. Primary wallet address to be whitelisted to the trading vaults (we support Fireblocks, Fordefi, Safe and a number of other institutional-grade self-custody wallets in addition to any EOA wallet)

  4. Chains you'd like to trade on - We currently support Solana, Base, Ethereum, Arbitrum Optimism, Avalanche, Polygon and Blast (If there is a chain we do not yet support that your organization needs, you can note it in your email).

Optionally, you can also include the following information if relevant:

  1. Sub-Accounts/Sub-Portfolios needed and their desired names. If you would like to associate sub-accounts with a different wallet address, please indicate and provide the relevant wallet address.

  2. Additional user emails that can access your account and their associated permission level (View-Only, Trading, Full Admin)

  3. If you require additional proxy addresses, please indicate

Next Steps

Sit tight and we will get your account set up for you (typically within 24 hours). When your account is set up, we'll notify you via email. Please ensure you change the password on the account.

  1. You will receive an onboarding email to the email addresses provided.

  2. Log into your account using the Email provided. Please ensure you change the password on the account.

  3. Connect your Whitelisted Wallet to Definitive. We support a range of MPC, institutional-grade, and EOA wallets.

    • For Fireblocks users, whatever method you use to interact with Uniswap will work with Definitive, but we recommend: 1) Using the FIreblocks browser extension or 2) setting your Fireblocks wallet up on Rabby Both of these methods tend to be far more reliable than Wallet Connect.

  4. After you’ve connected your wallet, the first thing you’ll need to do is Deposit tokens into the trading vault in order to place trades.

  5. If you have whitelisted an EVM wallet to Definitive and need to set up a Solana vault, simply connect your Solana wallet to Definitive without logging out of your email account. Then, make a small deposit using your Solana wallet. This will trigger the creation of your Solana vault.

What's Happening Behind the Scenes

  • We set up a dedicated trading vault (onchain contract - one per chain) for complete fund segregation of your assets vs. other clients. These trading vaults are whitelisted to the wallet address you provide to us.

  • Only your whitelisted wallet can withdraw assets and initiate trading sessions. Once initiated, trading sessions last ~7 days. During a trading session, you can place as many trade orders as you want across any asset without having to sign for each tx with your authorized whitelisted wallet.

To locate your trading vault addresses to authorize/whitelist in your wallet, go to the Vault Addresses tab under the chart. Your trading vault addresses will appear after you make your first deposit into the trading vault:
